A new tourism attraction built upon rural traditions

Your barn, your story

The Barn Quilt Trail is a grassroots project that received seed funding from the Ashtabula Arts Center, Ashtabula County Farm Bureau, Ashtabula Quilting Guild and individuals.

These donations will allow the steering committee to purchase the materials for the first two or three quilts. Cash donations are needed to sustain and expand the project.

Individuals, organizations and businesses are encouraged to sponsor a quilt for $200. Sponsors will be recognized on all promotional materials and at dedication events.

You can download a donation form here. Mail completed form to the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 West 13th St., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

The group also needs barns and farms with a story to tell. This movement is about preserving local rural history and honoring families whose labors fed the county and world. Without those stories and barns, we do not have a trail.

If you would like to have your barn included on the trail, download the barn application. Mail completed form to the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 West 13th St., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.

In most cases, the cost of materials to build and paint your barn quilt will be less than $300.

A quilt is a great way to honor a milestone birthday or anniversary, promote an agriculture-related business, celebrate the heritage of a neighborhood, farm or family, or just have fun!

Each registered barn quilt will have a webpage dedicated to it and its story.
